I always think of adversity as something rich in growing pains that might just help me learn how to live better, more compassionately but that mindset isn’t without caveats.

How much pain should one put oneself through in the name of service? And how do you know when to step away because if you don’t it might just destroy you?

Never having served or undergone military service, I cannot answer that even though the concept of service / common good is at the heart of my life.
