Pseudonyms are necessary for whistleblowers and anyone at risk of retribution, as is sadly still often the case when it comes to your community.
I tried to keep this piece specific to mental health advocacy because this is what I know, and I’d be loath to assume anything about situations I’m not familiar with.
As for what you say about Facebook, I personally don’t use it because of privacy and safety issues. Even though I’m very open, my private life remains exactly that.
I may come to revisit this at some stage if I can find a way to maintain a presence on the platform that is strictly professional…
