The last line made me think of sunflowers, my favorite flower because they follow the sun, Kayli. And they’re yellow, the one color that always makes me smile.

I’ve spent most of my life trying to put down some roots, moving from one country to the next before immigrating to the US, a move that made me wither rather than thrive.

Now that I’m back in Europe, my roots are coming back to life and I’m growing tendrils again but I have no fixed base yet.

Like you, I could never grow where I was planted, which is why I left at 17.

Here’s to hoping we both eventually find somewhere to call home although I’m no longer convinced it’s geographical coordinates but (an)other human heart(s).
